Settled balance, restricted access, and completed deletion are different endpoints

  • Repayment
  • Complaint / dispute
  • Approval / rejection

Finishing payment does not, by itself, tell you whether a Tala account is usable, restricted, or deleted. In an August 2026 public review, one borrower reported settling the balance and sending the requested forms and materials for account deletion, but said deletion was still unresolved. Tala's public reply acknowledged the concern and directed it to support; it did not confirm completion. A different July reviewer reported paying in full before the due date and then finding the account restricted and inaccessible. In another public thread, a long-time repeat borrower reported paying a thirteenth loan, trying to borrow again, and being told by support that the account was permanently restricted. Neither account establishes why access changed, and a support statement is not an independently verified system record. Tala's Help Center treats user-requested deletion as a separate permanent, irreversible process that requires a cleared balance. Its terms also describe platform-initiated suspension or closure. Wallet deactivation is a different product event and does not mean the loan account was deleted. A cleared balance, failed login, restriction, deletion request, and completed deletion must therefore remain separate labels. If your account changed after payoff, what exact status was confirmed? Leave out tickets, email addresses, and account identifiers. Editorial composite based on separate sourced public borrower self-reports and official Tala account guidance—not a verified diagnosis of any account restriction.
