₱337K Debt, a “Court Order” at the Barangay?

The borrower acknowledges the credit-card debts. But the Reddit thread provides no copy or case number for the alleged “court order.” In a 19 October post on r/utangPH, the writer listed ₱163,516.41 owed on a UnionBank card and ₱173,529.97 on EastWest: ₱337,046.38 in total. The cards have reportedly been overdue since March, following a job loss in December 2025. In a later reply, the borrower said a new job had started and money was being saved toward settlement. The borrower says someone at the barangay reported that a law firm had delivered a court order. The borrower then called a person described as an attorney, who allegedly demanded at least ₱52,000 to settle the EastWest account and said police would come to the house if payment was not made. In a reply, the borrower said this person claimed that three subpoenas had already been sent, but the borrower reported receiving none. Those are the borrower’s allegations. BorrowTalk has not seen the alleged order, a case number, court summons, the law firm’s authority, or a response from EastWest or UnionBank. Even the identity and authority of the person on the call remain unverified. Reddit replies questioned whether the purported court papers and service could be verified. Some raised concerns about involving the barangay or informing third parties; others emphasized that the borrower still owed the reported credit-card balances. Their interpretations conflict and are not proof of what the caller, law firm, barangay or banks actually did. Official references help distinguish the issues without deciding this case. Article III, Section 20 of the Philippine Constitution bars imprisonment for debt alone; it does not resolve any separate allegation of criminal conduct. The Supreme Court publishes distinct summons, response and notice-of-hearing forms for small-claims proceedings. BSP also provides a consumer-assistance route for concerns involving supervised banks. None of those references authenticates the alleged order, rules on the caller’s conduct, or establishes that an actual case was filed here. The borrower’s debt, the alleged demand for ₱52,000, and the reported court paperwork are separate claims with different evidence. The thread leaves the court, case number, service record and collector authority unverified. What would you ask to see before relying on the barangay message as a formal court notice?
