A borrower reported leaving home after threats as her debts spread across 20 lending apps
A former business owner told GMA that financial trouble in 2023 led her to online loans. She had run canteens, a grocery and catering services. She described borrowing PHP30,000 but receiving PHP23,000 after an upfront deduction. Early repayments went through; a later missed due date led to penalties. Borrowing elsewhere to cover earlier loans eventually involved 20 apps, she said. Her reported OLA debt was about PHP300,000, separate from bank and private debts. She said agents messaged her contacts, visited her home and sent death threats, prompting her to move. The March 2026 feature also described her catering business ending and her shift to domestic work, while her husband drove a taxi. It did not establish that the apps caused the business failure or report that her debts had been cleared.
