Payment confirmation is not the same as a closed credit-report entry

  • Repayment
  • Complaint / dispute

One borrower reported settling a long-overdue JuanHand account through an amnesty offer in March 2026. They said both JuanHand and the collector confirmed receipt that day. When they checked a CIBI report almost four months later, however, the account still appeared open and active. That sequence does not prove the payment was invalid, and it does not establish a normal update time. It shows that three checkpoints can differ: the payment is received, the lender’s own account is treated as settled, and an external credit report is updated. The borrower said they asked for proof of full payment and filed a dispute, but the final correction was not known when they posted. CIC’s official dispute guidance specifically lists fully paid loans that still appear outstanding as a dispute category. It requires a recent credit report and its transaction reference number, then routes the disputed record to the submitting entity. Keep payment proof and confirmation messages; do not assume a receipt alone has already changed an external file. Public light provenance: Reddit · Official CIC guidance. Public self-report and official process, not a verified individual correction.
