Collector Says ₱86K—But It's in My Aunt's Name?
Question from a public Reddit discussion (paraphrased):
We got a gadget loan through Home Credit using my aunt's name back in 2024. Only three out of fifteen installments were paid. Then the registered SIM was lost and we couldn't access the email either.
I finally reached out to Home Credit in February 2026 and was told the account was already terminated and overdue. A third-party collector later messaged that the balance was ₱86,000. There were also messages about legal action against my aunt.
I know we still owe the money. I've tried contacting the numbers and emailing again, but I haven't gotten a clear way to settle it. Paano ba 'to? I'm the one dealing with the loan, but it's her name on the account.
What other Redditors said (paraphrased from five different accounts)
If the old number is gone, OTP access can be a problem. Try Home Credit's collections email and ask how to retrieve the account. If it's with an agency, clarify who is handling settlement now.
Your aunt's name is on the contract. Losing the SIM shouldn't have meant waiting this long to contact them. Her credit record could be affected too.
You can ask the lender to update your phone details. A lost number doesn't mean there is no other way to reach them.
My relative used my name for a gadget loan years ago. I only discovered the account later, when I had trouble applying for a credit card. I paid through the account number and requested proof of full payment.
I had a different account: one collector quoted ₱86K, later another figure was ₱48K, while Home Credit told me my full balance was around ₱21K. I decided to settle against the lender's own account details.
That last reply is someone else's case, not proof that this person's ₱86K claim is wrong. But it shows why a collection text alone can't settle the question of what is actually owed.
The SIM was lost. The debt didn't disappear. And the name on the account is still her aunt's. A missing OTP is easier to explain than the possibility of putting someone else's credit at risk.
