Two overdue cards were settled for about ₱68,000; the payment certificates arrived two weeks later
One borrower had several overdue credit cards and decided six months earlier to stop trying to cover the minimum amount due on every account. Instead, the borrower saved money while waiting to see whether a documented settlement offer would become affordable. A later offer covered two UnionBank credit-card accounts. The borrower reported a combined outstanding balance of about ₱131,000 and an offered reduction of 50 percent. The savings were enough to pay about ₱68,000 to settle both accounts. Payment was not the last checkpoint. At first, the borrower was still waiting for Certificates of Full Payment. The post was later updated to say that certificates for both accounts arrived on August 17, around two weeks after the balance reversal and certificate process began. The account does not show that another borrower will receive the same discount, that six months is a standard waiting period, or that stopping minimum payments is a general solution. Those were the timing and terms reported in this one case. The settlement also did not end the wider debt journey. Three other credit-card accounts and one personal loan remained. One of the remaining cards was under consideration for a restructuring program when the post was written, with no approval outcome yet reported. Where the story stood Two overdue credit-card accounts moved through offer, payment, balance reversal, and full-payment certificates. The borrower had completed that part of the process but still had four other obligations to address.
