Seven Years Overdue—Then the Last Card Was Paid
From a public Reddit thread; follow-ups are BorrowTalk editorial summaries, not original-poster comments on BT.
Main post
Four credit cards and a GCredit account had been overdue since 2019, the poster said. Calls reached the office where they worked. Even after leaving that corporate job in 2021, the calls kept coming. At one point, someone came to the family home asking the poster to go to court, according to their account.
By October 2026, the same person could finally post a celebration: every overdue account had been paid, they said. But between 2019 and that post, there were years of work, very little sleep and several debts that didn't disappear together.

2021–2022: paying two accounts while three stayed overdue
After leaving the corporate job in 2021, the poster started freelancing. The income was still low. They wrote about trying to take on three full-time jobs and sleeping only two to four hours a night. That level of exhaustion reads as part of the cost, not a strategy anyone should copy.
By 2022, according to the same account, the BPI credit card and GCredit debt were paid. Three other credit cards remained overdue. The poster later said that for a long stretch they didn't respond to law-office messages because the situation was overwhelming.

2026: EastWest, UnionBank, then Security Bank
The poster listed three final milestones: EastWest in March, UnionBank in September and Security Bank in October 2026. They said they accepted amnesty or discounted settlement offers of around 70% off. When asked about the original balances, they described EastWest as over ₱300,000 and the others as roughly ₱100,000 each. These numbers are personal recollections, not statements verified by BorrowTalk.
In replies, the poster said they eventually responded to discounted offers when ready to pay. They also said their case had not gone to Small Claims Court and that they continued using credit cards more carefully. Nothing in this story proves that ignoring collection messages, waiting seven years, or stopping payments will produce the same offers for anyone else. The thread does not include settlement letters or account-closure certificates.
What five Redditors actually discussed
Condensed views from five different Reddit users. These are not BorrowTalk member comments.
Was happy for the poster, but shared a less tidy situation: four banks, about a year overdue, and settlement amounts still beyond reach. They had begun proposing what they could afford and hoped even one account might get resolved this year.
Wanted to know how much the original card debt was. The poster answered that EastWest was above ₱300,000 and the other accounts were roughly ₱100,000 each.
Asked whether the poster applied for amnesty. The reply was brief: the poster had waited for the offers to come from the lenders or collectors.
Was still negotiating a UnionBank amnesty offer and said their request for a statement explaining the accumulated charges had not yet produced a document. Their case was still unresolved.
Had several overdue cards of their own. They said they had stopped cycling payments through new borrowing, were considering a Metrobank offer they could afford, and had been allowed to pay in three instalments. They asked what happened with EastWest and Security Bank.
What seven years changed
The last payment was reported in October 2026. The poster had spent years dealing with calls, a home visit and work that left almost no time to sleep. They sounded relieved to be finished.
Under the same post, other borrowers were still asking which bank might offer a discount, when an offer might arrive and whether a proposed amount could be paid in instalments. None of those answers is guaranteed by this one story. The poster said their overdue accounts were finally cleared; several people replying were still trying to settle just one.
