Collection Complaint Watchlist: What BorrowTalk Found in 89 Reviewed PH Source Units

In a 12-month PH review, BorrowTalk screened 89 public source units and found 38 qualifying collection events. Maya Easy Credit appeared in 7 qualifying events and Home Credit in 5. These are reviewed-case counts, not complaint rates.

From 25 September 2025 to 25 September 2026, BorrowTalk directly reviewed 89 public Philippine source units. Thirty-eight independent collection-related borrower events qualified across four source families; 51 units were excluded or could not be verified. This is a BorrowTalk research watchlist, not a regulator blacklist. Two platforms met this edition's entry rule:

  • Maya Easy Credit — 7 qualifying independent events
  • Home Credit — 5 qualifying independent events

These counts describe the bounded material BorrowTalk reviewed. They do not mean these platforms had the highest complaint rates in the Philippines.

What we reviewed

The 38 qualifying events came from Reddit-based borrower reports (24), public government-request pages (10), app-store reviews (3), and news or regulatory reporting tied to a borrower complaint (1). These are source families, not four levels of proof: a borrower's account, an agency's handling of a request, a reported regulator order and a company statement each support different claims.

How we counted

BorrowTalk built this edition from an event-level corpus rather than counting posts, comments or articles one by one. One borrower event counted once. A same-borrower update, company response or regulator or media follow-up did not create a second borrower event; cross-posted duplicates were merged. Generic complaints, ordinary reminders, unclear platform attribution and material that could not meet the evidence window were not counted as platform-specific qualifying events. Of 89 screened source units, 38 qualified and 51 were excluded or remained unverified.

A platform entered this edition only with at least five qualifying independent events from at least three borrowers. Source diversity was assessed separately. A platform whose counted events came from a single source family could enter only after event-level review and with that source concentration disclosed prominently in the report. The order below uses qualifying event counts only; it does not measure severity or the number of loans made by either platform.

Maya Easy Credit — 7 qualifying events

Seven independent borrowers described collection-related problems in the reviewed Maya Easy Credit material. The reports included repeated calls or messages and, in three separate events, contact that borrowers said continued after payment or after a payment appeared in an account. One borrower described a visit involving a brother after a partial payment. Other reports described legal-sounding or threatening collection messages. These are borrower reports, not findings that every sender was acting for Maya or that the same conduct is routine.

All seven Maya Easy Credit events counted in this edition came from Reddit-sourced borrower reports. That concentration is a limitation of this edition and does not establish market-wide prevalence.

In one thread, an account presenting itself as Maya said the feedback had been raised to Collections. BorrowTalk did not independently authenticate control of that Reddit account. It is not counted as a verified company response or as proof that an individual account was corrected.

Home Credit — 5 qualifying events

Five independent borrower events met the same entry rule for Home Credit. Reviewed accounts described actual or repeated home or field visits, contact at a relative's residence, and alleged disclosure of a balance to someone other than the borrower. One borrower said visits continued while they were still communicating through the app. These descriptions remain tied to the individual accounts rather than a general claim about Home Credit's collection practice.

One reviewed event was also associated with a reported SEC department order concerning collection conduct. Later reporting said Home Credit appealed the order. BorrowTalk did not establish a final appeal outcome or a completed remedy for that borrower; the order as reported, the company's appeal and the other borrowers' allegations are separate evidence layers.

Patterns across the reviewed cases

The corpus records explicit lower bounds, not a complete classification of every complaint. Among the 38 qualifying events, at least nine explicitly involved repeated calls or messages; seven involved family or reference contact; six involved collection after a reported payment; five involved a threatened visit; four involved an actual home visit; and three included privacy or data-use allegations. One event may fit more than one category, so these figures do not add up to 38.

What happened afterward

At least three of the seven Maya events and two of the five Home Credit events had documented later developments in the reviewed material. A later development is not necessarily a resolution. Some borrowers reported continued contact after payment, one Home Credit complaint was still in process at the last visible update, and the reported SEC matter had an appeal with no final result established here. Other cases had no visible final account, payment or complaint outcome.

What this review cannot show

This was a bounded open-web review, not a market census. Public accessibility and uneven searchability affected which cases could be read. Some social platforms were inaccessible or difficult to search consistently, and the app-store material was a visible platform-selected sample rather than a verified random sample. The per-query original-screening ledger was incomplete, so BorrowTalk cannot claim equal search depth for every platform.

The review has no borrower-count or loan-volume denominator. Its event counts are not complaint rates, and a borrower allegation is not automatically a legal finding. Maya's counted cases were concentrated in one source family, Reddit. Other shortlisted platforms had qualifying events but did not reach this edition's five-event threshold; this is not a ranking of every Philippine lender.

Bottom line

Maya Easy Credit appeared in seven qualifying events and Home Credit in five among platforms meeting the entry rule in BorrowTalk's 89-unit reviewed PH corpus. The order is a count of distinct, documented events within that bounded corpus—nothing more.
